ROYAL Dutch Shell announced the opening of a research center in Beijing for local testing of its catalysts for Chinese refineries. In the past, similar testing was conducted in Shell's centers outside China like Amsterdam, Houston and Singapore.

Shell's catalyst business provides technologies for refining catalysts and hydroprocessing licenses to help Chinese refineries produce low sulfur diesel and ultra low sulfur diesel, both of which release less pollutants into the air.
