China Energy Statistical Yearbook is an authoritative reference book, which gives you a full picture of China's energy construction, production, consumption and supply & demand. Starting from 1986, the Department of Industrial and Transportation Statistics, National Bureau of Statistics or NBS had begun editing the book, and starting from the edition of 2000-2002, the book has been jointly edited by the department together with Energy Bureau of National Development and Reform Commission or NDRC.

In order to meet readers' demand for the statistics of China energy and enhance the effectiveness of statistics application, the NBS and the NDRC, starting from 2004, have started to publish the book once a year instead of once every two years in the past and the year on the cover has been changed to the data year from the publication year. Based on the results of the first national economic census, the book made adjustments to the relative national data since 1999 in 2005.

China Energy Statistical Yearbook is featured by the quantity, authority and integrality of information. The book is composed of eight parts as follows: 1) general information, 2) energy construction, 3) energy production, 4) national energy balance, 5) energy consumption, 6) regional energy balance, 7) energy data of Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions and 8) appendix: energy data of Taiwan province, energy data of related nations and regions, explanation of main statistical targets and reference coefficient converting each kind of energy into standard coal.
