As a major power in bicycle production & export, China plays a central role in world bicycle market. It
exported 50.45 million bicycles to around 170 countries and regions worldwide in 2003, and accounts
for up to 65% of international trade volume and for more than 50% of the global consumption in this
industry. At present, China has formed three major bicycle production regions: in South China, East
China and North China.

As China's most important bicycle manufacturing base, Guangdong is home to nearly 500 bicycle &
spare parts producers, with many private or Taiwan-funded enterprises, with an annual production of
more than 20 million bicycles and a strong supporting capability for producing spare parts. Each year
nearly 20 million bicycles are exported to more than 100 countries and regions from ports in
Guangdong.
