The rapid rise of chronic diseases represents one of the major health challenges to global development. Chronic diseases currently account for some 60% of global deaths and almost one third of the global burden of disease. According to a research by Hong Kong University the onset of cardiovascular disease and cancer in China will reach peak during 2010's.

With the objective of increasing the understanding of relations between nutrition, fitness and chronic diseases, NFH 2006 is dedicated to the concept of “Positive Health”. The mission of NHF is to serve a focus for communication among interested scientists - working in nutrition, fitness, pathology, biochemistry, and clinical medicine as well as taking global efforts to prevent and control chronic diseases and promote health.
