INSURANCE companies have been approved in principle to invest in real estate in China, the Shanghai Securities News said, citing Zhou Daoxu, an official from the China Insurance Regulatory Commission.
There are no policy restrictions regarding real estate investment by insurance companies, the Chinese-language paper cited Zhou, an official from the regulator's policy research office, as saying. Details regarding whether the insurers will be allowed direct securities investments and an investment cap are still being discussed, the reported cited Zhou as saying.
