Following local consumer complaints that its FE230 digital camera has design deficiencies, Japan-based digital camera maker Olympus has sent a letter to media saying the FE230 digital camera has no quality problems.

The company has also launched a special hotline to offer consultation service for the product and to assuage consumer gripes. Olympus said it has sent the FE230 digital camera to China's General Administration of Quality Supervision and Inspection for a test and will let the consumers know the test results soon.

In the past several months, many consumers have reported problems about the blurry images taken by Olympus's FE230 digital camera, but Olympus' dealers and after-sales departments have responded that there is no problem with the camera.
