China's top product quality supervisor Li Changjiang says an advanced tracing and tracking system will ensure food safety for next year's Olympic Games in Beijing.
Li Changjiang promises that with the help of such high tech achievements, athletes and officials attending the 2008 Olympic Games will be able to enjoy the best Chinese foods.
During an inspection tour on Tuesday, the developers explained to Li Changjiang that the system is able to record all essential data in every key stage of the production, circulation and preparation.
Top product quality supervisor, Li Changjiang said, "I think the system is very scientific and advanced. It represents the state-of-the-art achievement in the field even in the whole world.
It enables us to closely monitor the production of all foods to be used for the Olympic Games. All data concerning where the foods are produced, their ingredients, water quality in the production process and many other aspects will be collected, enabling authorities to trace these key stages later."
The developers say the system is so comprehensive that even data about the health condition of a chef who cooked a fish can be quickly found. And data about the source, fish food and water quality is also easily accessible.
