Sews up fabric firm stake - ResearchInChina

UNI-President Enterprises Corp shares gained on Saturday on a report that Taiwan's biggest processed-food maker will take a stake in a Chinese mainland company to make non-woven fabrics and hygiene paper.

Uni-President gained 4.6 percent to NT$52.30 (US$1.58) at 9:33am in Taipei, compared with a 0.4 percent rise in the benchmark Taiex index. Taiwan markets traded on Saturday to make up for a public holiday on September 24. Taipei-based Uni-President will take a 25 percent stake in a venture with Taiwan-based diaper and facial tissue maker Kang Na Hsiung Enterprise Co, the Economic Daily reported, without citing sources.
