CHINA Life Insurance Co may acquire a stake in a Japanese insurer or asset management company, Nikkei English News reported, citing the company's chairman, Yang Chao.
Yang has met with executives at Japanese insurers and asset management firms and is in talks with several financial institutions for possible purchases, he told the Nikkei in an interview.
Yang didn't identify any institutions with which China Life is negotiating, nor did he give possible timing or terms. China Life has 45 percent of the Chinese market, the Nikkei said.
