CHINA Merchants Bank, the country's sixth-largest lender, yesterday forecast its net profit in the first three quarters to rise more than 80 percent.

The bank attributed the profit growth to a rise in capital, non-interest income and wider interest margin. The bank said net profit in the first nine months of last year was 9.97 billion yuan (US$1.46 billion) and earnings per share was 0.68 yuan.
