The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revised its calculation of China's gross domestic product (GDP) for 2009 to RMB 34.05 trillion, or growth of 9.1% year-on-year, an increase from original calculation of RMB 515.4 billion or 0.4 percentage points, respectively, the bureau announced July 2. The revised figures remove RMB 25.1 billion from the country's primary industry value added, bringing the new number for 2009 to RMB 3.52 trillion, representing growth of 4.2% year-on-year. Secondary industry value added for the year was raised RMB 68.1 billion to RMB 15.76 trillion, representing a 9.9% year-on-year increase, while the tertiary industry value added number for 2009 was elevated RMB 472.4 billion to RMB 14.76 trillion, up 9.3% year-on-year.
The primary, secondary and tertiary industries account for 10.3%, 46.3% and 43.4% of the overall economy, respectively, according to the statement.
NBS initially announced January 21 that China's GDP came to RMB 33.54 trillion in 2009, up 8.7% on an annual basis.
