A business delegation of more than 50 senior company executives from Germany's Mecklenburg-Vorpommern visited Shanghai this week to attract more investment.
The delegation was led by Jurgen Seidel, the area's minister for economics, labor and tourism. He expected more cooperation with China in wind energy and aviation, two strong sectors in the area.
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is located between Berlin and Hamburg, with a population of 82 million people. Renewable energy has accounted for more than 40 percent of total energy consumption in the area now, compared with Germany's goal of 20 percent of energy consumption being clean energy by 2020.
