Executives at E-Ton Solar Tech have recently visited China, sparking speculation that the solar cell maker is in talks with potential buyers. However, the company has claimed the rumors are untrue.
The rumor comes following a recent steep drop in E-Ton's share price after it posted a loss of over NT$12 (US$0.38) per share in the first half of 2010 which made the company a target for acquisition.
Since solar cells are not included in the early harvest list of the ECFA (Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement) signed between China and Taiwan, it is not attractive for China-based concerns to make investment in the segment, according to E-Ton.
