Taiwan-based PCB makers, including Unimicron Technology and Tripod Technology, have received more windfall orders from Japan-based PCB vendors due to the appreciation of the Japanese yen, according to industry sources.

The fact that Unimicron and Tripod both saw their revenues hit their historical high levels in August indicates the two companies are benefiting from the rising value of the Japanese yen, the sources added.

Unimicron now ranks as the number one PCB supplier in the global market and Tripod is a top-10 vendor. Meanwhile, IC substrate maker Nanya Printed Circuit Board is one of the top-three vendors.

Taiwan-based flexible PCB makers Career Technology and Flexium Interconnect are expected to land more orders from Japan soon, the sources indicated.
