China Picture Tubes (CPT) and Hannstar Display are increasingly utilizing 5G and 6G production lines to manufacture small-to-medium-size panels. For the third quarter, CPT and Hannstar's shipments for small-to-medium-size panels increased 20% and more than 53% on quarter, respectively.
Hannstar in particular saw shipments for small-to-medium-size panels rose 17% on month to 33.23 million units in September, a new monthly record and gradually catching up with fellow panel makers CPT and CMI in the small-to-medium-size panel segment.
CPT has allocated capacity from its 4G, 4.5G and 6G plants to produce small-to-medium-size panels. August small-to-medium-size panel shipments totaled 37.14 million units, slightly higher than that of Chimei Innolux (CMI), but CMI reclaimed the lead in September with 37.69 million units versus CPT's 36.12 million units.
In the third quarter, CMI, CPT and Hannstar shipped 106 million units, 102 million units and 83.05 million units, respectively, up sequentially by 4%, 20% and 53%.
