Wistron internally expects its notebook shipments in 2011 to reach 35 million units as the company will sees its orders volume share from Lenovo, Acer and Dell increase; meanwhile, the company's smartphone and LCD TV shipments in 2011 are both expected to double from that of 2010 and surpass 10 million units.
Wistron has also decided to proceed with its plan of investing in Chengdu, China, mainly to satisfy its client's demand as well as to prepare for potential China market demand in the future.
Wistron declined to comment about its clients' orders and pointed out that the company will provide the detail of its China investment at its investor conference by the end of October.
For the fourth quarter, Wistron expects its notebook shipments to see sequential growth below 5% with total volume to reach 28 million units for 2010.
As the company is seeing its smartphone orders from RIM increasing, the company expects its smartphone shipments will surpass 10 million units in 2011, double from 5-6 million units in 2010. The company's monthly smartphone shipments already reached 700,000 units in September.
Wistron's LCD TV shipments in 2011 are also expected to double from five million units in 2010 as Japan-based vendors are increasing the orders. The company also expects to ship over 10 million desktop PCs and LCD monitors in 2011.
