Asia Optical expects consolidated revenues of NT$26 billion (US$828 million) for 2010 and a sequential increase of 30% in 2011 due to growing contribution from several new products, including 3D home theater projectors, digital cameras with pico projectors, bar code scanners and power-saving blue-laser TV walls, according to company chairman Robert Lai.
Asia Optical will expand its monthly capacity from eight million CCMs (compact camera modules, used in handsets) currently to 15 million in 2011, with two million units of the new capacity to be added at its factory in Taiwan and five million units at its factory in southern China, Lai indicated.
For digital cameras, which account for 40-45% of its consolidated revenues at present, Asia Optical expects to ship 6.5-6.8 million units in 2010 and aims to ship 10 million units in 2011, Lai said.
