Asustek Computer recently announced internally that the company's ex-general manager of China motherboard business, Lai Hong-Rui (transliterated from Chinese) will be assigned president of its China open platform department.

Meanwhile, the company has also promoted Wang Jian-Wen (transliterated from Chinese), an executive from its Eee PC business, to president of Internet cafe business under the China open platform department.

Asustek originally set a target of shipping 25 million motherboards worldwide in 2010 with shipments in China to reach eight million units, but as performance in the second quarter was lower than expected, while demand in the third quarter was not as strong as in previous years, and order visibility in the fourth quarter remains unclear in the US and Europe, the company is expected to face difficulties achieving its target.
