Taiwan market: WiMAX operator Global Mobile aims to secure 30,000 subscribers by year-end 2010 - ResearchInChina

Taiwan-based WiMAX operator Global Mobile has teamed up with taxi operator Taiwan Taxi to offer WiMAX services to customers while on the go. Global Mobile aims to push the number of its WiMAX subscribers to 30,000 by year-end 2010.

Meanwhile, Global Mobile has kicked off a new capital expansion project aiming to increase its capital by NT$1 billion (US$32.28 million).

To meet demand from its users, Global Mobile also plans to add tablet PCs and smartphones to its end-market device list, with the tablet PCs likely to be purchased from Acer and First International Computer (FIC), and the smartphones from Samsung Electronics and HTC.

Global Mobile said it may team up with Tatung Infocomm, Vee TIME and Malaysia-based WiMAX operator Packet One for joint purchases of smartphones.
