A rumor about several upstream component makers planning to raise their quotes significantly to maintain profits in the fourth quarter has recently been circulating around the IT market, but some makers believe the rumor is most likely bait for testing out the reaction of downstream players, since the quote will still need the agreement of downstream players.
The makers pointed out that they have heard many players talking about raising their quote to reflex their increasing costs since the second quarter, but most of these predictions have not come true. The makers also noted that most downstream players are also having rough times and are unlikely to accept any demands from upstream component makers.
Since raising quotes is difficult to be accepted, most component makers are instead lowering the scale and the frequency of their quote drops from before to maintain as much profit as possible.
