Optical lens kit maker Largan Precision is optimistic about its business operation in fourth-quarter 2010 due to fast growing orders for lens kits for smartphones, and expects consolidated revenues for December to be the highest in 2010, the company said at an October 21 investors conference.

5-megapixel lens kits will account for more than 50% of the fourth-quarter cameraphone lens kit shipments, while the percentages for 2- and 3-megapixel models will decrease, Largan indicated.

In addition, Largan has had lens kits used in cameras of tablet PCs under certification by potential clients and expects to begin shipments in the first quarter of 2011, the company pointed out.

Largan released its financial report for the third quarter at the conference, posting consolidated revenues of NT$3.483 billion (US$109 million), a gross margin of 47.1%, net profit of NT$1.236 billion with net EPS of NT$9.22 hitting a quarterly record. If the NT dollar appreciates further, its gross margin for the fourth quarter may slip on quarter, Largan pointed out.
