Intel CEO Paul Otellini was originally set to sign an MOU about cloud computing with Taiwan's economics minister Shih Yen-shiang this afternoon, but the minister has decided to not attend the Intel event and will instead have vice economics minister Huang Chung-chiu attend it. But according to reliable sources, Huang will not sign any MOU with Otellini at the event.

Since Shih had a meeting at Taiwan's Legislature this morning, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) thought that the minister would not be able to arrive at the Intel event on time and therefore decided to have Huang attend it.

The reliable sources noted that Otellini will not be able to meet with the minister during the visit in Taiwan. Huang will simply take part in the Intel press conference but will not sign any official document with Intel on behalf of the MOEA.

Intel has not yet fulfilled its WiMAX cooperation MOU, signed in 2008 with the MOEA, for investment in Taiwan. Huang told Digitimes in a recent interview that the Taiwan government already knows that Intel will not fulfill its promise and the company's ignoring of the MOU has angered Taiwan's IT players.
