Buoyed by rising demand for PCBs used in consumer electronics products, and CPU-use flip-chip (FC) substrates, Nanya PCB (NPC) saw October 2010 revenues increase 6.04% sequentially to NT$3.16 billion (US$105 million). The result was line with the company's internal estimate.

On an annual basis, NPC's October sales showed 17.75% growth. The company accumulated NT$29.39 billion in revenues from January to October, up 35.22% from the same period of 2009.

NPC said demand for FC substrates is warming up as PC clients have started to increase their inventory levels. In addition, the company has seen its utilization rate for PCBs climb to 90% thanks to rising demand coming from the games console, tablet PC and smartphone sectors.

However, despite entering the traditional peak season, NPC pointed out a combination of negative factors including falling product ASPs, rising raw material costs and exchange rate fluctuations may affect its performance for the fourth quarter.

Market watchers expect NPC's fourth-quarter revenues to remain flat or grow slightly on quarter, compared to a 5-10% growth previously estimated.
