Solar wafer maker Green Energy Technology (GET) on November 9 announced that it will adopt ingot growing systems from US-based GT Solar to complete its capacity expansion.

GET is expected to install 2,000 of GT Solar's directional solidification system (DSS) furnaces.

GET is GT Solar's first DSS ingot growing system customer in Taiwan. All GET's furnaces are supplied by GT Solar.

GET currently has 850MWp of ingot growing capacity and 800MWp wafer cutting capacity. The company is still seeing wafer orders in excess of capacity by more than 50%, and its third-quarter 2010 gross margin reached 15.8% compared to a 12.37% average for the first three quarters. GET is expected to expand total solar wafer capacity to 1.5GW. Its parent company Tatong also has plans to establish 300MWp solar wafer capacity, and will receive orders from GET in the future.
