China is actively developing its flat panel display (FPD) industry, and had a total of 13 5G or advanced TFT-LCD production lines at the end of the third quarter of 2010, according to Bai Weimin, chief secretary of the China Video Industry Association (CVIA).

Of the 13 5G or advanced TFT-LCD production lines, BOE's 6G line started trial production in September, the PDP production line of Changhong Electric is operating in good condition, and the 6G glass substrate production line of Irico Group Electronics has already started production, Bai added.

Bai indicated that China's investments in the FPD and digital TV industry will total 400 billion yuan (US$60.37 billion) in the next five years.
