Despite that tablet PCs and e-book readers have helped Taiwan-based makers of components such as batteries and chassis see sales growth, other makers of components such as cooling modules, keyboards and hinges have not benefited much, according to sources from the makers.
Since tablet PCs do not require cooling capability, hinges or input functions, tablet PC's expected impact on notebooks and netbooks in 2011 is expected to also damage the makers of these components.
These makers are already preparing to adjust their product and R&D directions to minimize the impact.
