TPV Technology is projected to ship 60 million LCD monitors and 20 million LCD TVs in 2011, increasing its lead over Chimei Innolux (CMI) and remain the world's largest LCD monitor manufacturer, according to industry sources.

With new orders from Hewlett Packard (HP) and other first-tier customers, TPV's 2011 LCD monitor shipments should exceed that of CMI by more than 10 million units, the sources said, adding that CMI's shipments will be around 45-50 million units.

Though the sales volume will trend up, profitability could take a hit if the NT dollar continues to strengthen, the sources warned.

TPV, with orders from Philips and Toshiba, is expected to ship 15-16 million LCD TVs in 2010 and up to 20 million in 2011.

TPV recently said that it expects to ship 55 million LCD monitors and 15 million LCD TVs in 2010. TPV is the largest LCD monitor manufacturer with a 33% market share and ranks in the top-three for LCD TV manufacturing.
