Asia Tech Image is expected to ship more than 20 million CISMs (contact image sensor modules) used in printers, scanners and photocopiers in 2011, hiking by over 43.9% from 2009, according to industry sources.

Asia Tech was spun off from Asia Optical, a maker of optical lenses and digital cameras, in January 2004. Asia Optical currently holds a 40.74% stake in Asia Tech.

Asia Tech currently focuses its production on CISMs used in inkjet and laser color MFPs (multi-function peripherals), with major clients including Hewlett-Packard, Seiko Epson, Canon and Lexmark, the sources pointed out. The company has fully utilized its production capacity mainly due to growing demand for replacing monochrome MFPs with color models, and will expand its annual capacity to 25 million CISMs in 2011, the sources indicated.

Asia Tech posted net profits of NT$127 million (US$4.0 million) and net EPS of NT$2.73 for January-September 2010, already exceeding the corresponding NT$90 million and NT$1.95 recorded in 2009. The company's shareholders, at a provisional meeting on November 18, approved listing on Taiwan's emerging stock market at NT$33 per share on November 19.
