Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics and Sony, the world's top three LCD TV vendors, are aiming to ship 45 million, 35 million and 35 million units, respectively, and will account for more than 50% of the global LCD TV market in 2011. Global LCD TV shipments are projected to reach 220 million units.
Samsung shipped 27 million units in 2009 and 35 million units are projected for 2010. LG's 2009 shipments were 16 million units, and 23 million units are expected for 2010. Sony fell to third place in 2009 with 15 million units. For 2010, the vendor is projected to ship 21 million units.
Other vendors such as Sharp, Philips and Toshiba have set shipment targets of 11-18 million units for 2011.
