China white-box handset vendors have increased their usage of capacitive touch panels and capacitive touch is expected to become the mainstream technology for white-box handsets, according to touch panel makers.
Resistive touch has been the mainstream technology for white-box handsets in 2010, but several new models have adopted capacitive touch technology recently. Adoption of capacitive touch technology will be more obvious in 2011 and it possibly become the mainstream technology for white-box handsets, according to Taiwan-based IC design house Egalax_Empia Technology (EETI).
Due to increasing demand from China white-box handset vendors, as well as tightening supply of ITO sensors, several ITO glass suppliers such as Emerging Display Technologies (EDT) and Giantplus Technology have been actively expanding their capacity in order to meet the demand.
