In China's 3G handset market, Taiwan-based vendors including HTC, Inventec Appliances, Asustek Computer and Acer, are facing increasing competition from China-based and international vendors, with the challenge much larger than in other overseas markets, according to Taiwan-based makers.
While monthly sales of 3G handsets in the China market have exceeded five million units, Taiwan-based vendors are under price pressure from China-based vendors including Huawei Device, ZTE, Lenovo, Coolpad, K-Touch and TCL, the sources pointed out.
In order to compete for orders, most leading China-based vendors are offering feature phones and smartphones based on three 3G, the sources indicated.
