Small- to medium-size panel maker Giantplus Technology has revealed that its touch panel module plant in Kunshan, China has begun trial operations with production volumes to expand significantly in the first quarter of 2011.
The Kunshan plant has a production capacity of one million 3.5-inch equivalent panels a month. In addition to shipping the panels to vendors of consumer electronics products and China-based handset makers, Giantplus will also ship to international branded handset vendors in 2011, the company noted.
Due to slow growth in revenues in the second half of 2010, the company is expected to reach breakeven, or suffer a slight loss, for the whole year although it generated profits in the first half, according to estimates by industry sources.
