Wintek plans to add additional capacity for 2.2 million 10-inch touch panels to its plant in Taichung, central Taiwan by June 2011, ramping up its total capacity to 5.2 million units, according to company chairman Hyley Huang.
To finance its expansion project, the company plans to sell 150-200 million new shares in the form of global depositary receipts (GDRs). The GDR issue aims to raise new funds totaling NT$9-12 billion (US$295-393 million), Huang said.
Wintek's monthly shipments of 10-inch touch panels will top two million units in December and further expand to three million units in January 2011, Huang stated.
Additionally, Huang also estimated Wintek will post revenues of about NT$8.8 billion in November and over NT$9.5 million in December. For the entire year of 2010, Wintek is expected to post revenues of NT$66.3 billion compared to NT$27.7 billion recorded in 2009, according to an estimate by industry sources.
