LED chipmaker Tekcore will sign a NT$3.8 billion (US$124.53 million) syndicated loan with a banking consortium on December 2. The new funds will be used to build a new plant as well as to purchase equipment.
Buoyed by shipments of high-margin blue LED chips, Tekcore has seen its revenues and profits increase substantially in 2010, with its profits generated in the first three quarters growing over 100% from the same period of 2009, the company noted.
Citing data from market research firms, Tekcore expects global shipments of LED TVs to top over 100 million units in 2011, representing a penetration rate of 51% in the global LCD TV market. The penetration rate of LED TVs is expected to reach 87% in 2014, the company added.
Meanwhile, Tekcore expects its revenues to hover at NT$200 million a month in the fourth quarter of 2010.
