Backlight unit (BLU) supplier Radiant Opto-Electronics has posted consolidated revenues of NT$4.59 billion (US$151.64 million) for November, up 1.1% sequentially and 45.01% on year, to hit a monthly record.
Consolidated revenues from January to November totaled NT$43.78 billion, up 30.12% on year.
Radiant originally expected November revenues to stop growing due to shortage of labor, but still managed a slight sequential growth, with order volumes for November and December higher than October. The company's labor shortage at its China facilities is expected to be eased in mid-December, and revenues for December will increase.
Radiant is a supplier for Samsung Electronics, Sony and Sharp. It is also a supplier for a US-based computer vendor, and it has started shipping 11- and 13-inch notebook BLUs to the US client in the fourth quarter of 2010. Radiant's notebook BLU shipments in November reached 6.34 million units.
The company noted that Radiant shipped a total of 9.61 million BLUs in November, up 7.86% sequentially. Of the 6.34 million notebook BLU shipments in November, there were about 10,000 CCFL-backlit units, 3.41 million units for netbooks and 2.92 million units for larger-size LED-backlit models. LCD monitor BLU shipments were about 2.8 million units in November, and TV BLU shipments came to about 440,000 units.
Radiant's EPS for the first three quarters was NT$4.11, and market sources expect the BLU maker's EPS for the year to exceed NT$5.5, with revenues reaching NT$48 billion, increasing by 30% on year. Gross margin for the year is expected to reach 9-10%.
Radiant's revenues in 2011 are expected to increase by over 20% on year. TV products will increase significantly in 2011, while notebook products will also continue to increase.
