ProMOS, Rexchip November revenues slide - ResearchInChina

ProMOS Technologies and Rexchip Electronics have announced slides in November revenues from the previous month, joining fellow DRAM companies Powerchip Technology and Inotera Memories that also experienced sequential revenue drops.

ProMOS reported NT$1.62 billion (US$54 million) in revenues for November, down 20% sequentially. But the figure still shows a substantial growth compared to the NT$1.08 billion registered in November 2009.

ProMOS's revenues from January through November reached NT$21.27 billion, rising 141.2% from a mere NT$8.82 billion during the same period of 2009.

Rexchip's revenues for November declined 23.9% sequentially to NT$2.62 billion, affected by lower DRAM prices. Cumulative revenues for the first 11 months of 2010 reached NT$45.71 billion.

Rexchip is on track to convert all of its 12-inch chip production to 45nm process technology by the end of 2010. Its migration to smaller process geometries is expected to mitigate the downward pressure on DRAM prices.

Rexchip now runs a 12-inch fab capable of producing more than 80,000 wafer starts a month. Japan's Elpida Memory now holds a 64% stake in the company.

Nanya Technology was the only company among Taiwan's major DRAM chipmakers to achieve revenue growth in November, with sales up 4.9% on month. The company has carried out a smooth transition to 50nm process technology as well as a capacity expansion project at its 12-inch fab, which helped offset falling ASPs for commodity DRAM products.
