Viewing that demand for mobile data communications in the China market is growing so fast that expansion of existing mobile Internet-access capacities at any speed is unable to keep up, China Mobile is considering earlier launch of TD-LTE (time division-Long Term Evolution), a China-developed version of LTE, services than originally scheduled, China-based tech.sina.com cited company chairman Wang Jian-zhou as indicating.
Currently, the fastest way to expand mobile Internet-access capacities to cope with the explosive demand is to add Wi-Fi hot spots, Wang indicated. China Mobile and the other two fellow companies, China United Telecommunications (China Unicom) and China Telecom, are actively expanding their hot spot networks, the media noted.
As China Mobile's TD-LTE trial network at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo has obtain good reputation, the standard may win adoption in many countries, the media indicated. Many mobile telecom carriers have contacted China Mobile about TD-LTE, the media quoted Wang as saying.
