Touch panel maker Cando plans to raise NT$3.6 billion (US$119.8 million) by February of 2011 via issuing 200 million new shares at NT$18 per share for building new manufacturing facilities, equipment procurement and overseas investments. With tablet PC spurring demand for touch panels and current product lines approaching 100% utilization, Cando plans to increase capacity at its plant in Taichung, Taiwan.
Cando's 4.5G plant has transformed completely for producing touch panels, and utilization will reached 80% in December and 100% in the first quarter of 2011.
In related news, fellow touch panel maker Sintek Photronics has recently announced a fundraiser through issuing NT$200 million new shares as well to expand capacity. The company plans to transform its 5.3G production lines for touch panels by year's end and construct a 4.5G touch panel plant in Southern Taiwan with volume production set for the third quarter of 2011.
