Taiwan-based notebook maker Compal Electronics will start shipping notebooks to its new client Asustek Computer in the first quarter of 2011 with an initial shipment volume of 100,000-150,000 units each month and will have chance to increase in the future if the cooperation goes smoothly, according to the market watchers. Asustek declined to comment about the detail of its outsourcing strategy, but pointed out that to separate its orders among different makers has always been its strategy.
Compal will produce Asustek's mainstream notebook models, but will not produce its Eee PC netbooks.
In 2011, Pegatron Technology will still manufacture 50% of Asustek's notebooks, while Quanta Computer will have 30-35% and Compal 15-20%. As for Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry), due to the two firms having issues over their cooperation, Foxconn will no longer produce notebook for Asustek after its current orders are complete.
