Taiwan's panel makers reportedly are considering reducing purchases of passive components, such as multi-layer ceramic-chip capacitors (MLCCs), from the Samsung Electronics group as they blame the Korea giant for the hefty antitrust fines the European Commission (EC) recently imposed on them, according to a Chinese-language report in the Economic Daily News (EDN).
Orders would be shifted to Taiwan-based passive component suppliers, who might start to feel the benefits in the second quarter of 2011, the paper said.
