HannStar Display has announced it will make an additional investment of US$65 million in a touch panel module subsidiary in Nanjing, China to build up production lines for cover glass and thin glass.

The new production lines aim to grab cover and thin glass orders mainly from the smartphone and tablet PC segments, the company noted.

With an initial capital of US$21 million, the Nanjing touch panel module plant began small volume trial production recently, with commercial production slated in the first quarter of 2011, HannStar indicated.
