Some ODM notebook makers have postponed their orders for parts and components to January 2011 as their shipments have been affected by continued blizzards in Europe and the US, according to sources at upstream suppliers.

Orders that have been delayed also included those notebook makers placed in early December in preparation for the Lunar New Year holidays, added the sources.

However, the postponement may seriously affect the production of upstream suppliers as labor shortages in China are expected to peak during the January-February period.

Should notebook makers resume orders of parts and components in January, upstream suppliers will not have enough capacity to fulfill the backlog of orders, indicated the sources.
