Automation equipment maker Kenmec Mechanical Engineering expects 2011 revenues to challenge NT$7 billion (US$240.45 million) thanks to aggressive capacity expansion by TFT LCD panel plants in China and solar companies, particularly in upstream polycrystalline silicon and thin-film production.

Kenmec's clients planning to set up next-generation flat panel plants in China include AU Optronics (AUO), BOE Technology and InfoVision Optoelectronic (IVO) and these projects will assure continued revenue growth for Kenmec, said industry sources.

Projected capacity ramp by its solar cell subsidiary Tainergy Tech in 2011 will also help boost revenues of the parent company as Kenmec supplies all related solar equipment to Tainergy, which aims to manufacture 400-450MWp solar cells in 2011 compared to 110MWp in 2010, according to an earlier report.
