Samsung Electronics and Sony are both preparing to promote their smart TV businesses at CES 2011, which will start on January 5. Samsung is displaying its smart TV advertisement on the most important billboard of the show, while Sony also has several advertisements at the show promoting its smart TV business.

Despite that global TV brands have turned their focus from 3D TV to smart TV for 2011, 3D TV is still one of the topics at CES 2011. Toshiba is aiming to showcase 3D TVs that can be viewed with the naked eye with 40- and 50-inch models to start mass production by the end of 2011. Toshiba will also showcase a 56-inch and a 65-inch 3D TV.

As for tablet PCs, RIM is already displaying a large advertisement for its PlayBook around the exhibition hall and visitors may even have a chance to operate the machine at the show.

Meanwhile, Asustek Computer at its pre-show conference, introduced four new tablet PCs with Lenovo also displaying its Idea Pad Hybrid U1 at its pre-show press conference. Lenovo's U1 can be used as a tablet PC, running on Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor, or when attached to its docking station, becomes an x86-based notebook running on Intel's Core i5 processor.
