Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS) saw revenues increase 21.7% on month to NT$1.26 billion (US$43 million) in December 2010, ending a three-month streak of sequential decreases. Revenues amounted to NT$3.4 billion in the fourth quarter, down 29.4% on quarter but meeting the company's guidance.
VIS's revenues for both October and November slipped significantly on month, due to clients' inventory adjustments. VIS earlier estimated revenues would decline by between 27% and 30% sequentially. Orders for IT-use panels had been weaker than that for TV-use ones, the specialty foundry said previously.
VIS turned in NT$16.03 billion in 2010 revenues, up 27.4% on year.
Market sources were quoted as saying in a recent report VIS may enjoy single-digit revenue growth sequentially in the first quarter of 2011 driven by a pick-up in replenishment demand.
VIS is scheduled to hold the company's investors conference on January 31 to discuss its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2010, and guidance for the first quarter of 2011.
