Taiwan-based LED packaging house Ledtech Electronics stands a good chance of obtaining orders for nearly one million LED light bars used in chain stores from a state-run enterprise in China in late January 2011, according to industry sources.

The state-run enterprise has screened out two to three candidates for supply of about two million LED light bars in color temperatures of 5,500-6,000K, and Ledtech is the only Taiwan-based one, the sources indicated. While the enterprise will decide on suppliers in late January, Ledtech has passed product testing and is very likely to land orders for nearly one million units which will be shipped over 1-1.5 years and account for 10-20% of its 2011 revenues, the sources pointed out.

Ledtech provides LED chips for its subsidiary Energyled to make LED lighting products of all types, Ledtech chairman Frank Liu indicated. Ledtech is marketing customized low-temperature LED lighting products as well as normal LED lighting products used in factories, banks, stores and schools in China and Southeast Asia, Liu pointed out. Energyled is expected to generate revenues of NT$1 billion (US$33.6 million) in 2011, accounting for 30% of Ledtech's consolidated revenues.
