Taiwan-based chassis maker Catcher Technology has announced plans to purchase property in Tainan, Taiwan with an budget not exceeding NT$1.3 billion (US$) which will be used to expand it capacity.
Catcher pointed out that it is in the middle of planning to establish new plants and the purchase is currently just a long-term investment.
As for its short-term capacity expansion plans, Catcher is set to start operations at its newly established plants at the Tainan science park in the second half of 2011, helping its total capacity in Taiwan to increase by 60% in 2011.
In 2010, Catcher saw significant growth in its smartphone chassis sales, raising the segment's revenues contribution for the company to 35% in the fourth quarter of 2010 and benefiting from trends such as metal chassis smartphones and strong tablet PC shipments, Catcher expects its revenues from the handheld deice chassis business to rise to 45% in 2011.
