Taiwan-based makers will ship 16.305 million optical disc drives (ODDs) in first-quarter 2011, dropping 1.2% sequentially and 18.8% on year, according to Digitimes Research.

DVD+RW/-RW models will account for 79.9% of the shipments, DVD-ROM 18.7%, and Blu-ray Disc (BD) and BD combo together 1.4%, Digitimes Research said, adding that 54.5% will be slim-type drives and 45.5% half-height ones.
