Motherboard and notebook players expect their revenues to drop 10% sequentially because of Intel's defective chip incident; however, as supply of Intel's fixed 6 series chipset will become regular starting in April, demand in the second quarter will help players have sequential growth of 10-15%.
As for the DIY channel, motherboard makers pointed out that the market has already been seeing falling shipments and the defective chip incident has caused many DIY consumers to delay their upgrade plan to May or June, when the problem will be completely resolved and some are even waiting for Ivy Bridge-based processors to show up at the end of 2011.
