Acer and Asustek Computer have recently been aggressively cutting into China's tier-4 to tier-6 cities as both players are optimistic about these cities' potential in the future.

Acer has been expanding its retail channel lineup in China through its China-based partner Founder and is set to acquire a market share of 15% in 2011, up from 10% originally; meanwhile Asustek is also aiming to gain a market share of 15-16% in 2011.

Asustek had about 14% share in China's notebook market in 2010 and in order to achieve its goal for 2011, the company will focus into China's enterprise market, where the company is still weak. However, the company will not adopt a similar strategy as Acer and Founder, but instead will acquire a China-based team.

Both Acer and Asustek are also maintaining close relationships with China-based channel retailers and consumer electronics chain stores to cut into these cities.
